John Van Alstine's sculptures are stone and metal abstracts that portray exceptional balance and poise.  His works touch on themes from the ancient mythologies of our ancestors, with references to classical, nautical and celestial motifs -- influences that have played an important part in shaping the meaning, structure and richness of our contemporary lives.  John was one of 50 internationally-recognized artists to have his work chosen for display at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.  He lives and works in upstate New York.
